Oil And Gas United Kingdom (OGUK) Medical

Oil and Gas UK medical examination is a specialized medical examination for those involved with working for an offshore oil and gas company. Only medical professionals registered with Oil and Gas UK can perform Oil and Gas UK medicals. VSHL has a register of practitioners that are authorized to perform OGUK medicals to mobilise workers to offshore environments. These medical practitioners are authorized to issue Oil and Gas UK certified medical certificate.

The practitioners who are approved to perform offshore assessments have experience in the offshore environment and have been trained in offshore medical assessment.

Are Oil & Gas UK Medical needed?

Those working in the oil and gas industry are likely to need an Oil and Gas UK Medical. Some workers working in wind farms are also likely to need this medical. Completing the medical usually takes 45 minutes.

Is it inclusive of Fitness to Train/Fitness for BOSIET/FOET/HUET/EBS medical?

This is a separate medical which may be done at the same time as your Oil and Gas UK Medical. Completing the Oil and Gas UK medical plus Fitness to Train medical usually takes one hour. If you require both medicals at the same time, please contact on +91 988 139 80 48

How is an Oil & Gas UK Medical assessment conducted?

According to the guidelines from Oil and Gas UK, the doctor will perform medical checks as follows:

• Checking your height, weight, blood pressure, and examining your physical condition to determine your fitness level.
• Testing your eye sight (before and after you put on glasses) and your colour vision.
• Checking your hearing.
• Testing your urine for glucose, blood and protein, indicative of diabetes and kidney problems.
• Listing any medication you’re currently taking on the medical form.
• Asking about your previous medical history (these questions are on the medical form).

How should I prepare for my Oil & Gas UK Medical Appointment?

Here are the items you will need for your Oil & Gas UK Medical:

• Photo ID e.g. driving licence, passport or discharge book.
• Your glasses (do not wear contact lenses as they are removed for the eyesight test).
• A urine sample. You will receive a specimen pot upon arrival at our reception, and the bathroom will be directed to you.
• Avoid loud noises before your appointment if at all possible.
• Any hospital letters and/or a list of your current medication.
